Poor bantam is all twisted up

It's a lot like helping my father with Alzheimer's. I had to provide familiar stimulation to help him remember who he was. I think a lot of that stuff can be applied to chickens too, they're a lot like humans I think.

We had a couple days that felt like she was responding. But the past couple days she seems to be declining. It's so sad having a chicken that's dying. She doesn't seem to be in any pain but it's painful to see it, to watch the process, loss of function, loss of quality, loss of joy. Maybe what looked like improvement, was just the last burst of life before she began her departure. It's so sad watching her it's so hard now for her even to eat and she doesn't really want to drink very much. Her sense of balance is so out of whack she really can't even stand up anymore and she doesn't really hold her head up right very much for very long so I'm just preparing myself for a probably sad week or however long she stays I don't know. She really seems to like being held. and I hope that she doesn't suffer because I don't even want to think about having to euthanize her. But for now I'll just keep caring and cross that bridge when we get there. Thanks everyone for being so supportive.

I'm so sorry to hear the news that she's taken a downturn in health.
Thank you for keeping us updated. Your update is very appreciated. :) For any of us who try to assist others, we're always hoping the best for all involved. It sad when it doesn't happen. It's understood that it's a part of life...but it still doesn't make it any easier.

She Isn't t going to die anytime soon I don't think but it's hard to watch she doesn't seem to be unhappy however and when I hold her she burrows into me and makes these really sweet little cooing sounds. I think she likes all the extra attention.

Well it's been a couple weeks and she's still in the running, in fact , she's actually doing a bit better. She eats now without me having to put the food directly in her mouth. HORRAH !! She holds her own head up sometimes alert and looking around.

Well it's been 2 weeks now and she is still in the race. I've been consistently giving her the vitamins, and she's actually doing a little bit better. She's eating now without me putting the food in her mouth for her and she holds up her head and looks around sometimes so I think she's doing better.
