Poor Chick

My family and I icubated 11 eggs. We got 10 out of 11 to hatch. We were very happy. But we were curious as what happened to the chick that didn't hatch. We cracked it open and there was a fully developed chick in there. (Poor chick ) Anyone know what might have happened? Please help! I'm puzzled!

My DH always cracks them open too. He wants to scope it out. I always say there are things I don't need to see.

Just makes me sad.

First let me say

from Ohio and congrats on a great hatch, you should be thrilled.

It is hard to say why chicks die in their shell. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. Did it pip then die or no pip at all? It could have just been to weak to hatch. Again, congrats with the other chicks.
