He had to euthanize one of his chicks this morning. I knew she wasn't doing well, but I hoped she improve or I'd give her peace when I got home. I am always the one who ends up with this duty, but he was late leaving and saw she was suffering. He called to ask me what to do. I am proud of him for helping her, even though it absolutely devastates him to do it.

Oh, it is rough.....especially with cute little chicks.......

You hate to see suffering the choice is always hard, Sorry for your loss

not looking forward to the first time i have to do it. sorry for your loss.

I know how you feel. I had to put one of the very first chicks I ever hatched down. It was not fun. DH offered to do it for me but I told him no. I figure if I am going to hatch and raise chickens, part of being a good steward is having to have to make the hard decisions and doing the hard jobs sometimes. He was a sweetie though, he stood next to me while I did it.

to you and your DH.

Sorry for the loss, and proud for/of him for having the fortitude to do it.

I know this sounds cruel but I have 26 baby chicks coming in next Friday and if I have to, I have no idea. How do you euthanize a chick. Also, I keep see DH & DW. Obviously the h & w are for husband and wife, what does the d stand for?
