your welcome!I was finally able to determine that she was damaging her feathers by excitedly running back and forth against the bars of her run. She would only do it when she saw me and got excited that she was getting to free range around the yard in the evening...I didn't realize that she was so excited that she was damaging her feathers. Crazy bird.
Unfortunately, all of my hens were taken by a fox early Tuesday morning while it was still dark. It was the first fox attack I've had in my time keeping chickens and I'm still pretty surprised about it. I'm going to be placing a blocker in the run at about chest-level for any future hens that I have and be strengthening the run's defenses against digging predators. Thanks for all of you guys' input! Suggesting to me that the feeder was damaging her feathers was able to help me find the big cause of her feather damage and I can prevent it in the future.
