Bantam- 4 years old. My poor baby has gone progressively worse since MOnday. First isolating, then weak, then cant walk or move, now wont eat. Her comb is getting darker. she sleeps all the time. weight loss. stopped laying a few weeks ago. Possibly found her lash egg last week but dont know if it was hers. not sure if egg bound-but most likely not. I probed and didnt feel any egg. Such typical symptoms but nothing is working.
Lost 2 birds with the same symptoms last year but the aviary vet had no answers. They all had a slow death. same pale yellow poop. thanks for any help.
1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
2) What is the behavior, exactly. listless-cant stand-dark comb-feet clenched, not moving eyes closed
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 4 days
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? no
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. no
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. not sure
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. until yesterday when she stopped eating, water, corid, cheese, egg, yogurt
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. pale yellow watery with dark green
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? doxycycline, covid, (oral drench) safeguard (oral)
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? treat myself
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use currently blanket but otherwise a wooden coop with straw bedding
