Poor Little Chick

We have a young first time broody. Today is hatch day and I wasn't able to get out to check how they were doing until about noon. When I opened the coop she jumped off the nest to go eat and I noticed 2 chicks almost hatched and an empty egg with no chick. I looked around and found this little one almost completely buried in the pine bedding. I think it fell out of the nest. It was barely breathing and cold. Luckily it was only 60° out so it wasn't freezing. I rushed it in and put it in my incubator. It is still breathing but I don't expect it to make it. One of the other chicks hatched while the momma was out of the nest. She heard it and went back in and sat back on the nest.

Good news! Right after posting this I checked on him and he perked up. I gave him back to his mom and he is chirping from under her.

The little guy is doing really well. I really thought he wouldn't last half an hour. I went to check on him again and the little stinker squeezed through the crack in the back of the nest box and was running around in the next empty nest by himself. I stuck him back with mom again. They will all be moving to a nest box on the floor tonight. He is the one on the right.
