Poor rescue chicken

Hello,

We rescued 3 ex-commercial hens a couple of weeks ago, 2 are fine. One showed signed of being poorly after one week.

She had been very sleepy, some yellow runny poos, but kept eating and drinking. We brought her inside to look after her.

Yesterday she seemed much brighter and active. But today she has not moved, not woke up unless we wake and the only stays awake for a few seconds. Today she has not eaten or drunk not matter what we tried.

She has been on a wormer for 3 days, we are giving her critical care formal and probiotic in her drink.

She is very underweight, breastbone is protruding at least an inch. We were giving her a raw egg for tea, today we offer her sardines but she’s not touching anything.

Crop seems ok, vent ok. At the moment her comb is ok. She is re-growing a lot of feathers.

Any idea what could be wrong and what else I can try?

Can you post a picture of this hen? Any idea how old she is and what breed?

As shes an ex-battery hen, i think its some kind of reproductive issues, maybe an infection. Hopefully, @Eggcessive can help.

It sounds like she may have a common reproductive issue or infection. Cancer also is common in hens 2 and older. Check her crop first thing in the am before she eats or drinks, to make sure that her crop is emptying overnight. Offer some soft cooked egg and mushy wet chicken feed. Tuna is another high protein treat. If you see any abnormal poops, we welcome pictures. Are her urates in her dropping, white?
