Thanks everyone for the advice! I think we will just keep adding vaseline and we will watch his comb for a while. He had frost bite last year and it healed up fine.
What is "triple ointment"?

My aologies- that should have been triple antibiotic ointment. It has Bacitracin, Neomycin Sulfate, and Polymyxin B Sulfate. I put in on fairly thick and it stays on like vaseline.
