My Serma solo has never saw another chicken but she is only 1 month old. She lives in a bird cage in my house. Today I decided to let her go meet the chicks outside- she started breathing heavily and perching farther and farther up my arm away from them. I finally just put her on the ground with them and she just stood there scared. I went in the house so maybe she would play with them. Nope I came back out she was on the opposite side of the cage. When she saw me she ran toward me and the others started pecking her. Poor solo maybe she will just have to be a house chicken

Normally my chickens do the same thing so when I introduced the new ducks I put a cage inside their coop with the ducks in it so they could get used to each other first, and after about a month I let them out and no pecking at all. I dunno if it will work for you but its worth a shot.

I do the same thing! It seems to work really well, doesn't it?

Yea the only pecking is my cross beaked rooster and the ducks he doesn't care for them but because he's so low on the pecking scale the ducks ignore him. He can't do much damage with a cross beak anyway.

I just want to say that i think it is worth trying harder to integrate this sweet little one into the flock. She will be stressed at first, of course, but in the long run, she will be a happier chicken.

I was thinking about the opposite situation with my chickens, wherein i was sort of afraid of them when i first got them because i hadn't been that close to a live chicken in 25 years or so. Thus i did not handle them nearly enough when they were small. This created a situation in which they were very stressed out by my handling them. But, i've forced the issue a few times, and now they are much more comfortable with being handled.

And since i learned to properly use food to bribe chickens, they're following me around the yard like a pack of puppies. It's more fun for everyone.

That last part was extra, but i just want to encourage you to keep trying ways to get her to be part of the flock.
