Poorly or broody duck?

If you can get more females that will help a lot the best ratio should be 1 drake to 3-4 females or more if you can.

I have two females.... he's not interested in the other.

That happens so drake jail and spa for the ladies! lol

If one is only laying or not as hormonal they will target the receptive Hen.

I thought my Pekin duck was maybe getting broody. The drake has favoured her a lot, she has lost weight and us laying. She has been avoiding drake last couple of days, yesterday she hardly came out so I kept drake away, today she seems lethargic, is out not sitting but just standing around doing nothing. Last week eating lots and oyster shell now just sips of water. She has some eggs but I've removed some too. Am new to duck keeping and shess a rescue.....any ideas of what is going on?

Welcome to BYC! Can you take her to a vet? Standing and acting lethargic is a sign she is sick. It would also be helpful if you could post some pictures of her so we can see how sick she looks.

She's preening and cleaning this morning...i've kept drake in and she is quite happy with sister....although not eaten much.
Interestingly her sister ' mounted' her for a few seconds. They got happy excited!!

She’s very pretty. Keep track of her laying and eating. Hopefully with having the drake separated will help and her eating will pick up too.
