Poorly puffed up quail think I can see orange in throat

Desperate for advice!!!


One of my quails seems for the last two days to be puffed up and slightly off.He is nearly 4 weeks old . I have separated him. Poop normal- no swelling and all seems fine. Seems to be eating and drinking. Looked in mouth and think I can see something orange ????? Put heat lamp back on. He doesn’t like me opening mouth.

Any suggestions ?

He is on Allen and page starter Turkey crumb as research suggested this the best. He is not four weeks until next Tuesday. Put the heat lamp on as a precaution he isn’t too cold but now ruled that out.

Ok, that food is ideal. It may stress him out to be alone, can you put him someplace where he can see the other quail or bring him a buddy. If poop looks normal, I don't know what else to suggest. They do molt around that age, but if he looks worse than the rest it may be illness.

He did have a buddy and they are all inside where he can see and talk to others. But ok the other bird out as I was worried about disease. His poop is not normal. Spoke to vets and going to treat tomorrow for coccidiosis.
