Hi, I have been building my coop for a couple weeks now and I'm just about done. Do I have to have a separate door for the chickens? Can't I just Open the door I go in and leave it open while they are in the pen? My door is inside the run anyway. If I have to I will, I was just wondering. Thanks in advance.

My succession is that you make one you can open and close from outside the run so you don't have to go inside the run to lock them in at bed time.

Where do you live? If its really cold there, you may want a smaller door for the chickens to keep it a bit warmer in the coop. I don't have a pop door yet, but hopefully will before the snow.

I live in Western Illinois. Do I let them out in the run in the winter then? Like when theres Snow on the ground?

I live in Indiana and we get snow like you do.

I will not let my chickens out with snow on the ground.

They can get frost bite so it just seems better to keep them in.

Not much for them to do outside in the snow anyway!
