Well our sick little hen was getting better on the oxytetracyline last week, then suddenly around Thursday got worse. Got some Sulmet (sulfamethazine sodium) from our nearby feed store. Started her on that Saturday morning.... Today her eye that was swollen is half open and the swelling is down a lot. She is spa-ing in the warm and dry garage (we have had so much rain here in South Fl.) Her appetite is good, eating a lot. Hopefully she will recover soon.....
Tonight 's movie is Chicken Run..... My Turkish Mother in law is here and speaks little English, hope she enjoys it.....
Here she is, getting better..... Friday that eye was completely swollen shut.........now half open......

The little hen was getting better, then mid week got worse again.... Switched from oxytetracycline to sulfamethazine sodium and now her eye is half open and she is getting better...... Feed store here in south Fl. says a lot of chickens getting sick with all the rain we have been having this season.... The dry season is getting close now, though. Tonights movie is "Chicken Run" so my Turkish mother in law should like it, she speaks very little English.....

Thanks. It is better. She has become so tame now. However, put her in with the other chickens last night, and this morning they chased her around a bit, then just kind of gave her the cold shoulder.... I guess they forgot her....
Tomorrow will open up a second larger run for them.
