Poppa's Chicken diary..

I am SOOOO happy with these broilers.. They get around great, they run, jump, get air and come 3-4 feet off the ground.. I venture to say come spring time when the yard is green and the bugs are back these monsters are just going to further impress me..

Just another way of doing them, I do a dozen at a time, but then I harvest them 3-4 birds at a time. Easier on me, the freezer, and it allows the littler ones a chance to grow up.

But I do the quick ones. I don't want mine that big.

To each his/her own ways of doing things.

We do a mess at a time and they remain in coolers on ice aging for a day or 2 then they're ready for the freezer.. Lol It'll be less than 64 next time, that was a whole weekend..

We got our 1st egg today out of the Meyers white Plymouth rocks today.. Hatched 8-17, 5 months and 10 days wonder how quick the rest of them will follow ? Maybe inside a month the meaties will start laying too..

I tried doing something similar before but they just dug through it for corn like kids digging their favorite candy outa the candy bowl.

The cracked corn does go 1st but they eat it all in time..

😁 Less than 5 months hatched 9-2-20 and we got our 1st broiler egg today.. If we get a 2nd tomorrow I'll plug in the new ebay incubator.. I'll hope to make 7 before a week is up.. We'll then see about hatching some chicks.. Still just the 1 white rock laying..
