Porcalin Silkies? HELP

Quote:
lavender has no affect on one dose; you cannot even tell that it is present in the bird based upon appearance. Breeding two buffs who carry a copy of lavender will produce 25% lavender diluted buffs (isabels), 25% buffs who do not carry lavender and 50% buffs split to lavender. However, other than the birds who are isabel, you will not be able to tell the others apart.

Any chicken who is Lav+/Lav+ or Lav+/lav is visually indistinguishable from each other: there is no lavender dilution whatsoever in either case.

porcelain is a lavendar mille fleur... if it's just a lavendar buff, it's just an isabell... in that case, all of my isabell OEGB's are porcelains... but they aren't... they're just isabells... so those silkies without the mille fleur is just an isabell... right...? not porcelain... or are silkies special...?

I've raised the Mille Fleur and Porcelain color varieties since 1979 in 5 different breeds...including the Pyncheons that I have now....plus a few other color varieties....and my BBS Silkies.... I find the "Pastel" varieties of Silkies attractive and VERY interesting..... I know when I have ever bred a "pure" Mille Fleur bird to a Porcelain...all of the offspring (F1's) looked like pure Mille Fleur....but if I crossed two F1's together or a F1 back to a Porcelain...only then (because of having 2 doses of lav.)...would I get Porcelain colored birds. I thought I'd be happy with JUST having the BBS colors....but after seeing these....things HAVE changed.....

....Thanks everyone for the info....Regards, Rusty Hart (Irish Acres)

I hatched some porcelain eggs from Kelar as well. I had 4 hatch out that looks exactly like #1 chick. They're about a month now and one definitely is looking like a porcelain (I think). I'm not sure on the other three. I'll post some pictures of them later so you can see.

I got two porcelain birds as chicks. I didn't take pictures then,, but I have some adult pictures.

They are now and laying have been for over a month. I've got chicks from them under a lavender cock, we will see how they turn out. It will be interesting. I don't believe they have the mottling gene that is part of the official definition of the porcelain coloring in other breeds, but I don't know if anyone has it yet. Perhaps Sonoran?
