Porcupine chicken continued

Hello,
This is a 14 week old chick that one of my broody hens hatched from the flock.
I'm not sure the breed mixture.
It's finally getting chilly here in South Texas so I'm concerned about the delay in this Chickie's plumage. I've tried pulling gently and breaking the quill a bit but it seems uncomfortable for the babe.
I saw a similar thread but it seemed left unfinished. Any help would be great.

What percentage protein is the feed you're feeding? It should be 20%. You might try supplementing it with a little animal protein a few times a week. Fish, liver, ground beef. Don't overdo it, though, as too much protein is hard on the kidneys.

I'd make sure the chick is eating an 18-22% protein Chick Starter or All Flock feed.

Can you take a sample of poop to your vet to have a fecal float to see if he needs deworming or treated for Coccidiosis?

Some birds are slower to feather in. He has a lot of blood feathers at this time, I would not attempt to break any of them, they are not ready to lose the sheath.

For the most part, he's feathered in, so as long as he's got a good sheltered area to get out of the weather, then likely he'll be o.k. in cooler temperatures.
