Porous Eggs and Incubating

Is your regular chicken feed for layers? If not, I would try to find some. If it is, reduce the rice and increase the chicken feed as it will have more nutrients (including calcium).

Yeah the chicken food is for layers. I feed them just cup of rice in the morning and evening, it's more of a snack for them. There main food is chicken food everything else is more of a snack.

I just reread your post. If this is the only porous egg from your one hen, her calcium is probably just fine. Do all three of your roosters have access to her?

I checked a few eggs and they all look pretty much the same. Yeah all roosters are with her and and jump on her quite often.

If they are all porous then I would cut the rice out of their diet. You should really get more hens as soon as possible or get rid of some roos. I can't believe they have not torn her up by overmating.

They are on her quite a lot but she seems to be ok. I'm keep my eye on her. I'm planning to get 15 hens in total. If I keep her chicks will there be any problem with inbreeding?

Inbreeding is quite common with chickens. As long as you don't start noticing malformations being passed down, it will be fine.

Also, it's common that an egg will turn porous after incubating a while. In fact, it has to. Tiny microscopic holes begin to slowly form so that the egg loses it's hardness. That way, the chick can get out. I notice that old eggs are porous and the hen that lays the porous egg often...she's a weird one.

BritishTaz, what's up with you and all the rooster's... Lol. I still tell people about your hair change...
