Portable run

I have 8 hens, 4 Buffs and 4 Reds. They are about a year old now and it takes just a short time for them to clear an area of grass or anything else. I've decided to make a portable run for them and after it's cleared use that area for a garden.
It rains a lot here in Oregon so it's not to cold and I think they'll do okay.
Transporting them from their main coop to the new run is the only problem I can see. Will let you know how things work out.

Consider a chicken tractor. Let your grass grow 4-6" long and then move the tractor daily. Too short the chickens will eat & scratch it into oblivion and too long they'll matt it down. Try not to graze the same area too soon or your lawn will disappear as you noted or it'll die from excessive fertilizing.
