Portable urban play yard

We have a small flock of five chicks, still just a few days old. They will have a coop and run outside that is permanent, but I'd also like something cheap, easy, and portable so we can move them around with us in the summer. This would be mostly supervised time (me or DH gardening or playing with the kids). No overnights or anything like that.

I was wondering if something like

this would work? It's only 26" tall, not sure if that's not tall enough?

Our goal is to get them time to range near the gardens, under the fruit trees, and around various areas of the yard (good shade on hot days, sun on cool days).

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

View attachment 1757542 This is 8 years later and I was in search of a portable play yard as well. However for right now I ordered a puppy play yard from Walmart - 36 inches high with 8 panels of 2 feet x 3 ft. all hinged. They love it. I can't leave them unattended because of no top but they have so much fun scratching around and have never tried to fly out. I live in a subdivision so I never know when a dog or cat will cut through my yard. They have an 18 foot run but it's all wood chips so they like scratching in the grass and finding bugs and worms. They run to me every time I go out there because they think I'm letting them out to play. So entertaining.

I used something like that, but mine was made of wire and it came with little stakes to stabilize it in the ground. I think I paid around 30 bucks and it worked great for me. I got 8 little chicks last spring and I would put them outside during the day with a heat lamp. They were so tiny that they could fit through the wire so I put up paper painters tarp around the outside and then I kept the top covered with a couple of sheets that I clipped to the top. That way they weren’t exposed to the wind or too much sun or aerial predators. I would keep them outside all day, they really seemed to like it.
