Porter's Rare Turkeys

Well this year we didn't order Turkey Poults until late May, so we ordered a Hatchers choice. From ordering until they arrived was about a week.

This year my wife had wanted to start with Narggests but we now have 15 Spanish Blacks and two Bourbon Reds.

So as a last resort, if you want to order turkeys this time of year, consider a Hatchers choice, if they offer one.

Yes, he said an assortment (hatcher's choice) was no problem, where he gets to pick--I may even get nothing but mutts, but that's fine with me. I just want a good variety of colors, don't care much about specific breeds when it comes to turkeys. He may well be sold out of specific breeds though.

So long as they don't much resemble the local wild turkeys. We're not allowed to eat those, as the department of fish & game went to a lot of trouble to re-introduce them. I'll put leg bands on just in case, don't want to get into trouble with my neighbors.

Rosalind, are you located anywhere near eastern Pa. ? I could probably sell you a poult or two (Bourbon Reds).

Annie, thanks for the offer, but hopefully in about a week and a half, two weeks, I will have 15 poults in the mail!

I ordered some mottled black and black Spanish poults from Porter's today. Got confirmation back that they're expected to ship end of July/beginning of August.
