Position of yolk in egg

When I hard boil my eggs for making deviled eggs, I find that the yolks tend to stay in the very top of the wide end of the egg. So naturally this doesn't make for a nice sliced boat shaped egg. Instead the end is missing. Is there something nutritional that's going on with my RIR hen that is giving me these particular eggs and can I do something to help her out?
Any ideas folks? I would appreciate a little insight from you. Thanks!
 
This I don't know about. However, normally, a yolk is "held in place" by the chalaza. Not sure what can enhance that if it is even possible. If it's just one hen or related hens, could be somewhat genetic. Eggs are often as unique as the layer.
 
How do you store your eggs? Maybe if you stored them pointy end up the air sac would float to the smaller end. I'm guessing its the air sac that's giving you the weird shape for your deviled eggs. When I hard boil an egg, especially for deviled eggs since I want them to be pretty, I always use my oldest eggs. They peel easier and don't have that "cup" on the big end. Hope that makes sense....
 
I knew that the yolk was held in place by the chalaza. I attended a candling class recently and it seemed that the instructor mentioned something about this. I may email him and query. Thanks!
 
I store my eggs with the pointed end down and use older eggs. I will try just storing them opposite of what I normally do. It didn't even cross my mind to do this! Lol! It just makes plain sense! Thanks.
 
LOL. Now that I talked with some co workers, one mentioned taking a pin and popping a hole into the shell on the air sac side of the egg so when it cooks, it expands for the "perfect" half egg. I've not tried myself so can't say for sure. I might have to look into making a deviled egg... they look tasty.
 
Well it can't hurt to try a in hole in the egg. I can see that breaking the integrity of the white could cause it to fill in....interesting! Thanks again.
