Possible age and gender of this Barred Plymouth Rock?

Pullet. That first photo immediately made me think cockerel though, full bred male barred rocks will have a head spot of a lighter color, sometimes it's more diffused looking and not a distinct spot, that lighter head/neck fluff would have made me say boy.

I have a barred rock. The girls are black with white stripes and the boys are white with black stripes... that's how I explain it to them. Good luck!

Technically it isn't true, but it may look like that to some people. Barring is actually white bars. In this case, it is on a black bird, but it can also be on a dominant white bird, creating ghost barring.

Speckles are normal for new layers in general. Pretty egg!
