I know these types of questions are asked over and over, but Im confused. My black chick was part of the "straight run" group made up of several breeds and is now 2 weeks old. The chick tub had several signs for the breeds, but the only sign that could have been the black chicks were black sex link. So we intentionally picked on with no spot on the head. He/She only has a little yellow on the wing tips, and some yellowing on the belly between the legs, otherwise all black. Beak is dark with a reddish tint. Its getting some feathering on the wings, which are black with some tan/brownish coloring in it. What makes me think it is a rooster is that, while not bigger than my other chicks, it tends to stand very tall to peek at things, and is the most active. Its already doing a lot of wing flapping and attempts at flying. It even managed to hop to the top of the box they are in. Its legs are very dark, but huge compared to the other 2 chicks. Comb is also bigger than the other 2, but not red at all or even pink, just bigger. It just acts so much more different than the other 2, one of which we know is a pullet. It is hard to compare though because all 3 are different breeds. I will TRY to post pictures, but camera is acting up. Any opinions?
