Possible bleedout pre hatch

My two eggs are set to hatch tomorrow, I checked on them last night and saw one active and healthy, internally pipping, and the other doing the same but in a lethargic manner. There was what looked to be a red "bloody" puddle on one side of the shell. This morning, checking on this 2nd eg, it looks to be dead. No movement, you can see the beak in the air sac, but no life to it. Could this chick possibly have bled out? I am keeping the egg in there in the case I am wrong, but my gut is telling me I'm not.

I read that this can happen, but is rare. Anyone have any experience in this?
