Hey yall so I won some eggs from @Pierre duck drake in a contest, and choose the mixed flock eggs, and had them shipped basically across the country, and tried to do my first hatch. Had some issues with the incubator and I’m sure it was a tough shipment, so I only ended up with two chicks. I have no clue what breed mixes they may be, besides silkies. I’m pretty sure they are both somewhat silkie crosses. Some other breeds I know they had were I think Sussex, wyandottes and Rhode Island reds, I know there were a ton more but those are just the ones I remembered. Anyone have thoughts on any other breed possibilities? They are three weeks and four days old. The whitish one is named Dot and the grayish one is Zip. Zip has sone interestingly colored ear fluff. 🤔 anyone know what that’s from? A certain breed? Zip also is heavier and a bit bigger than Dot. Also I know it’s way early for guesses on whether they are pullets or cockerels, but are any obvious signs hinting to one or the other yet? Also, Dot has 5 toes so I’m guessing for sure silkie. I’ve never had silkies so this is new to me lol

They are sweet and definitely part if not at least half Silkie. Do you know what other breeds are possible?😊
Too early for genders.

Updated pictures! Any thoughts on what other breeds might be in them? They are for sure half silkie. Any thoughts on if they are cockerels or pullers? There are only two chicks, so there are several pictures of each.

I won’t swear it but the white one really seems to be a cockerel. The comb is very prominent but it will depend on the age. Cockerels combs become red not too long after hatching. Pullets will only begin to stop being pale pink and turn red as they get closer to beginning laying which is around 20 weeks depending on breed. How many weeks old are they?
As for breeds , I have no idea but they are adorable!

They are 8 weeks old.

Update on my boys. They are both crowing every morning…. Well trying to crow. They are having some goofy voice cracks etc😂 They are now 3 months old and have just today been let out with the flock after weeks of integration through the fence. I don’t plan on leaving them with them long term, since I only have 15 hens and already one other rooster, but right now I don’t have any other good spot for them. A hawk tried to attack them about a week ago but thankfully they were in a fully enclosed cage. Any other ideas on their breeds? Zip, the grey and brown one, is already bigger than my other silkie rooster. They are both beautiful.
