If it stays in there and only comes out once a day to eat, drink, and dust bathe, then it's probably broody.

The way I tell if a hen is broody or not is to see where she spends the nights. There are many different indications that a hen might or might not be broody, but I don't depend on any of them. If a hen spends two consecutive nights on the nest instead of in her normal sleeping spot I consider her broody enough to trust with hatching eggs. One night is not enough, it has to be two consecutive nights.
