First time duck owner here of some very sweet 7 month old welsh harlequin females. Is this bumblefoot? I check their feet weekly and this just sprang up! No limping or redness or swelling in the leg. Background : They get layer feed, peas and other herbs and greens we grow daily. They are free range in our fenced in acre yard full of soft grass with no debris or hazardous surfaces. They have access to a clean pool deep enough to swim daily. Nightly we put them away in a coop that is 3-4 inches deep of pine shavings just until the sun comes up. Then they have an automatic door to roam and forage some more!

Yes, definitely bumblefoot. Sometimes it happens despite our best efforts, so don't beat yourself up. I would soak in epsom salt warm water for ten minutes, then try to peel back the scab and try to remove any yellow gunky infection, then pack with triple antibiotic ointment (not the pain-free type). Then put a piece of gauze over it and wrap the foot with vet-wrap - not too tightly to cut off circulation. Keep her somewhere dry with no access to swimming until it scabs over. Then let her have a swim in clean water and reapply ointment and fresh bandage. Keep doing this until lump starts shrinking and you can tell healing is occurring.
