So I went to an Easter party today, and the lady hosting the party thought it would be cute to buy 15 chicks to use as decoration in Easter baskets in the center of each table. It WAS cute, and they had food and water, but it was a chilly day today and they were freezing. These people raise chickens for Foster Farms, so you can imagine their attitude toward "livestock." Anyway, they purchase these chicks at TSC but weren't sure of the breed they purchased (apparently they just asked for any old chicken.) They offered us the chicks to take home, so I took 2 as that's all I can really handle at the moment. I would PREFER not to have to eat them, and would like to keep them as layers, so...
I need some advice! Are Cornish decent enough layers? Will they be okay to keep into adulthood and let them live as long as they will, or would I be better off sending them to freezer camp?
Help!
