So I have a sizzle chicken about 5 weeks old with a swollen eye. It happened shortly after introducing her to the small flock she now lives with so I assumed it was an injury. Its been about a week and no improvement and my friend just informed me that my chicks buddy-whom she adopted-has been sneezing and has some labored breathing. So I started looking all this up and discovered coryza while also discovering another one of my chicks has developed a swollen eye.

So this is all sounding like coryza right? Here is my question-or series of questions. I raise my silkie/sizzles purely for enjoyment, is culling them necessary if I have no intention of eating them or showing them, are there other things I need to consider before making the decision to not cull my birds? I ask this because I went out to the coop with every intention of culling the sickest one and ended up a ball of tears, but I understand that sometimes these things need to be done. I just wanted others advice first. Also, will every chick in their pen need to be culled? They all sleep close together so I have no doubt they've all been exposed.

Also, if I vaccinate the other chicks that aren't sick will they be safe from it? Should I just suck it up and cull the sick ones now and vaccinate the rest?

I have a separate coop with a separate run for my egg layers, I will vaccinate those as well. But another question I have is will the eggs be safe for consumption in the future? (They are not laying yet)

I think thats it, I have so much going through my head right now.
