Hello! We have a hen who is raising 4 chicks. The chicks were hatched at a friend’s house who got the eggs from a hatchery. Anyways, I noticed one of the buff Orpington chicks’ (not sure yet if it’s male or female) beak looking “off.” I was able to pick it up and take this video. The chick just turned 3 weeks old yesterday. I care for these chickens with my parents. I’m not always home due to work, so my parents care for them more than me. I know I would be willing to care for a crossbeak, especially if it’s not too severe, but my parents said they won’t put in extra time to care for it. Just wanted to share this video. I know it’s not the best but the baby was very feisty. Any suggestions are welcomed! I’ve never care for a crossbeak before.

It doesn’t look too severe to me,I’m actually getting a bantam with a severe crossbeak from a friend today.I’ll post a picture of Leia later.Hers is much worse than your birds and she was living with another bantam, about 30-40 standard chickens, and 3 turkeys. She received no special care and is absolutely fine.

To me it looks like a very mild crossbeak. Is the chick able to eat and drink on its own? If so, it shouldn't need much/any special care. Keep an eye on her, you could start weighing her to see if she is able to keep pace with the other chicks.

Thank you! Thanks what I’m most worried about. I’ll still love this chick…just worried because it would be too much for my parents if she needed special treatment, such a hand feeding multiple times a day.
