My 6 month old Dominique hen is showing signs of curly toe paralysis. It began 2 weeks ago when she just started limping and then on Friday she could no longer walk and her toes were curled under her. After a fruitless visit to the vet (who advised I put her down and do a necropsy), I went on the internet and found information about CTP. I began treating her with Vit B complex that I had on hand, and then bought some liquid baby vits that had a large amount of Riboflavin in them. She is responding and now standing and her toes are no longer curled under. She can walk a bit, but still not back to normal. However, I have only been treating her for 24 hours.
My question is why would she be lacking in Riboflavin when she gets a complete diet (Purina Layena, plus cracked corn, plus veggie scraps)., and why would she be the only chicken affected. I have 4 other hens and a rooster. All the hens were bought as chicks at the same time and were vaccinated for Mareks.
Any thoughts and further advice would be most greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Avery
