How do you "pop" a chicken leg back in. I still don't know if it is dislocated, someone is coming out to look at it later today. Going to a vet is out of the question. Her left leg is out infront of her, and she doesn''t complain about being picked up, which is abnormal for her. Her other leg is just fine.
Any suggestions would help.

Sorry I don't have any answers for you....I also have a 9 month old hen with a bum leg. She is holding her leg folded up underneath herself so I will be anxious to see any responses here and to see what your friend who is coming to look at your hen today says. Good luck to you and your girl....

Did she fall that you know of? You may want to get her away from the flock ASAP. I've read on here about a disease called Merek's that starts with symptoms like this. The bird gets paralyzed little by little and the disease spreads to the rest of the flock. I hope in the mean time someone can give you some more in depth information.

It's too late to prevent infecting the rest of the flock. They have all already been exposed and will be carriers. The only exception would be birds that were vaccinated as chickes and properly quarantined for at least 10 days after the vaccination. The disease may reamin latent in the remaining birds or it may manifest itself, particularly during times of stress.
