Hi All!

I have raised chickens for the past two years, but a week ago I got ducklings. They are amazing and super snuggley and loving. We take really good care of them making sure their food, water, and brooder is always clean. Recently, within the past few days, I have noticed that our Pekin sounds like she has a click when she exhales, but it doesn't happen all the time. You all know how being a new "mom" goes...I just do not know if this is normal or if I should be worried. Please help!!!

Welcome!

Do they have a head washer? They need to be able to snoot water through their nares to avoid sinus and respiratory infections. And they need to be able to wash their eyes and ears, too.

Have you seen this?

Indeed! Amiga also taught me this when I was a new duck mom (thank you Amiga!). I thought he was sick, but it turned out that one of my little guys had so much food in his nose that it was effecting his breathing (not clicking, but wheezing for lack of a better description). Allowing them to wash their heads really helped him out. Hopefully this is the problem for your little duckling and it clears up... easy 'nuf
