I got 25 assorted female chicks and most of them I can identify (or believe I can!

) but there are 5 brown ones. And within the 5 there are two variations one lighter and one darker. Their feet are slightly green, do green feet always mean EE?

They are a little over a week old.

This is chick # 1 and represents the lighter colored chicks.

Thank you! I agree about the black ones. I think we also have some RIR, two turkens and A Lot of Leghorns!

I was wondering if they were Welsummers initially too. So are EE a cross between breeds?

EEs are a cross, yes, between just about any large fowl breed and one that carries the gene for blue and/or green eggs. Their eggs may be brown, lightly tinted pink, blue, or green. Usually they're mixed with RIR, NHR, BO, and the like. The "chipmunk" look is the "classic" EE - with the stripes and the puffy cheeks. EEs can also show up without muffs, beards or puffy cheeks. They're true "mutts." I happen to love mutts.....
