Possible Eggbound Did what I could, Only time will tell.

I dont have vaseline.. I have a hen who i think is egg bound im going out to check her vent and give her w arm sitz bath,, But wanna know if baby oil is ok instead of vaseline..

She has an egg in her vent when i try to put oil in there she pushes my finger out an sqwaks and i am afraid i'll break it.. i have read hundreds of searches .. i dont have a needle or vaseline.. i have given her sits bath... I know everyone thinks that the search will answer these questions but there are just too many, i cant scan them all.. I am fairly new to this and kinda freakin out,,, please help

Mineral oil would be better than baby oil, which is scented. I've heard of using vegetable oil as well. Good luck.

I had an eggbound girl once, and all I did was soak her butt in warm water...eventually she gave birth to a very soft shelled egg. Goog luck! Let ;us know please

I am a lil sad / dissapointed that only one person was willing to help me with this.. I have tried to help many folks on here with emergencies .. I am fairly new myself so cant help a whole lot but i do try,,, It is very sad to me to see soo many emergency questions go unaswered yet games continue non stop... I tried the search engine on here and with so much coming at you it can be overwelming and have spent many months reading about possible problems... Maybe my topic title wasn't catchy enough? Maybe " Help " is a red flag to look away? Don't know but I feel like a kid just being told Santa Claus isnt real.. I guesss i just had this feeling that soo many animal lovers would rally to help others... But i feel that i have been misguided in these thoughts..

I have done what i feel is best for My EE by putting mineral oil inside her vent with an eye dropper , i also gave her tums in water . she is eating and drinking so maybe she will be ok. only time will tell,,,

Also, you need to isolate her in a dark place so she won't want to make any more eggs. Keep her quiet....how is she doing?

She is eating and drinking she is roosting with girls as i wasnt sure if i should if i should put her in the dark before she passes the egg or after .. It seems huge but may be two.

SHe needs to be in the dark now. You can wait til morning since its dark already, but in the morning, I would move her into the house or a shed in the dark. Also, she should be warm.
