I have a couple of older hens who seem like they are laying fertile eggs but their last exposure to a mature rooster was in January or February. before I lost 3 hens and the rooster to a raccoon. I do have a cockerel with them who was bought as a chick on March 9th. Is it even possible for them to be laying fertile eggs? If they are fertile I would love to incubate some since we really like our rooster and these girls are getting older as well. Are these fertile eggs or am I just crazy? The other option of course is I'm both crazy and they are fertile...

What I have read is that the white spot looks more like a bullseye when fertile. I can't say as I don't have a rooster so I know my hens aren't laying fertile eggs.

I learn something new everyday. I never really noticed the white spot despite having chickens for 4 years. We only had the rooster about a month before he was killed so I never thought to check either. We did have an egg about a month after the rooster died that looked fertile to me more than these two. I had read that 30 days is within the realm of possibility. I'll attach a picture of that one to see if I was wrong there too. Thanks. Looking at that one I still think it was fertile but agree these ones from today don't look the same.
