I got chicks from meyer hatchery that were sexed and supposed to be all female but yesterday I was looking at my gold laced wyandotte and the huge legs and stance alone leads me to believe she is a he, it has not developed any color on the comb or wattles yet but it will only be 3 weeks tomorrow. Now I don't have alot of experience with wyandottes I do have two roosters and alot of the traits lead me to believe that this is one. It is the one in the back standing upright ( rooster stance)

Why are wyandottes so hard to tell than other breeds?

Because the females often get pink/red combs early and because less-than-perfect laying on the females can mimic the distinctive male color pattern during some of the juvenile molts.

I haven't had a Wyandotte male yet, but I've had some serious scares where females even fooled some of the more experienced people here until they hit 12-16 weeks. :D

Its not her/his coloring its just its legs they are tall and large and big feet although the feathers are throwing me too its so dark.

I’ve noticed with my third set that some Wyandotte chicks have huge legs and some don’t. The larger legs seemed not to make a difference, as all turned out to be pullets.

Here is my 3 week old tagged silver laced Wyandotte male, he has the same leg size as everyone else but already has a very distinct reddish comb. He’s standing out from the rest already at this 3 week young age with his comb.

Wow you are right about the comb, while mine is getting a big comb it is not red or no wattles I also heard with roosters they will have tiny spurs not sure if that is true. Well I hope mine is a pullet I will let everyone know in the coming weeks.
