I went out to feed all the animals this morning and noticed one of the RIR's was laying under the chicken coop ramp and she didn't get up to eat. Well upon further inspection she couldn't stand up. We thought maybe something was wrong with one of her legs or something. But after looking it up online I think she has heat stroke. We put her in a big rubbermaid container and brought her in the house where it is cooler. She is drinking water here and there. We put some water on her when we first noticed her laying there. We have had her in the house for several hours now and although she is perking her head up here and there and taking sips of water she still is unable to stand on her own. I don't have any electrolytes to put in her water or any pedialyte or anything. I read that it can take quite awhile for them to bounce back from heat stroke. I have taken measures to prevent it in the other birds outside but just not sure if I can get this one to pull through. What else can I do?

Hi, my silkie was found like that a few years ago. I soaked her down, dried her and brought her in. She couldn't stand. The next day she could stand supporting herself in a corner . She stayed in another day so I could monitor her drinking. I put her back out at night when it was cooler. Then they got a fan in their little coop, and ice in their water in the morning. She's just very vulnerable.

Well she is still in the house right now since the a/c is on. She is still taking sips here and there of water and she has pooped. I just hope she pulls through and starts standing. I try to stand her up but if I'm not holding on to her she will fall. I guess it is just a wait and see situation.
