possible incubator

Now I don't know if this will work and I don't have pics but if you could give me your opinions, that'd be great!

So I was at The Hub(consignment shop in a near-by small town) and amongst the kitchen supplies and knick knacks I saw a potential incubator! It looke like a ceramic bowl with heating-like things in the bottom that you'd see in an oven or space heater. two inches over that there was a grill-like thing(putting eggs on) and it plugs in. There is no lid, but finding one to fit would be easy... If you can visualize that: Do you think it could work as a make shift incubator?

I think anything that you can maintain the proper temp and humidity will work.
Can you put a thermostat in and power it through the thermostat?

Those things are made for grilling steaks and such. Look at the wattage. Probably 1500 or so. A styrofoam incubator uses about 70 watts. Way too much heat, no good way to regulate it, and no way to maintain humidity. I don't see an incubator there.

I just recently tore apart a rice cooker that was given to me, I was expecting to find a different type of heating element, but I ended up getting a 500 WATT! Heating element. I have a friend he's about 50, he is wanting to make a double door cabinet hatcher. I offered the 500 watt heating element, and he said that he may use it. I figured it would be a good element for that sized incubator.

I use a single pole dimmer switch to control the temp in my homemade bator. I have heat tape covering the bottom and the light bulbs as supplemental. It was once a floor model TV.

When I go back on wednesday I'll take a look and some pictures.
I thought it was a griller too but it is incredibly small, if used for burgers only three at a tie, I'd say. Plus it is table-top
