Hey everyone!! One of my sweetest girls just passed on Monday morning. As if I'm not sad enough already, one of my other hens started limping. I have her separated since Sunday morning and have looked her over. I don't see that there's anything wrong with her leg but if she walks, she's limping and every once in a while I'll see her pick at one of her toes on the limping leg. But her feet look normal and the same with her leg. I'm just wondering if theres anything else I can do for her. I don't want to keep her separated from the flock too long but I don't know if I should put her back out and risk her getting worse. TIA

Unless a health issue is very contagious, separating an affected chicken will just make her lonely and negatively affect her well being.

How old is she? That's very important. Was the hen that died experiencing lameness? What other symptoms did that hen have? How old was she?

Where do you live? USA? Africa? Asia? Europe? Australia? Canada? Mars?

She's 20 weeks old. No other symptoms besides the limping. When I first separated her I checked her legs and feet and couldn't find anything. Now that she's been inside, I see that she's picking at one of her toes and making it bleed.

You need to answer our questions and /or provide more information and clues for us to go on. Go back to post # 2 and please answer the questions, especially about the hen that died previously. This is important, as is what country you live in. State if you are in the US.
