Possible Maran???

Can anyone help me out and possibly identify this cockrell. I was told it was a maran....??

I've never had marans, but after looking a few pics online I'd say that it is one. It has the same head shape with the thick and feathered legs as the same aged chicks of the maran.

Confident it is indeed a Marans. He is the French strain, rather than the clean-legged English/American. Also, definitely a cockerel
