Ordered 15 chicks from mcmurray. Received them last Thursday. Friday night/Saturday morning 4 of them died. Now today (Wednesday of the next week) I find one with a swollen belly. No pasty butt and if pooping fine. Feels like fluid in the belly. Has a click sounding breathing. This is not my first rodeo with chicks. I’ve never had problems with mcmurray before and in my years of raising chicks have only had 2 die. Any ideas what this could be? Google says mushy chick. If so is there a treatment or should I just cull?

Welcome To BYC

Can you post photos of the chick, her abdomen and her poop?

Is she eating/drinking and active?
Any redness or purple color to the skin on the abdomen?
Is the navel healed?

If it is Mushy Hatch, i don't think they'd ship them. They usually die 1 - 3 or 1 - 2 days after hatch, if not treated. If it is Mushy Hatch, you can put Iodine on it, i had a Mushy Hatch one time. But, she did not Make it. And it does say they will Unlikely Survive, can you post some Photos?

Navel is healed. Poop is a little watery which is the cause of the poo line. Vent is open and clear though so no obstructions. Seems to be eating and drinking fine and running about as usual. The skin looks purplish but I figured that was from the swelling.
