I have two African Geese and a very naughty herding dog. Occasionally my dog, Rubin, will herd my chickens; but yesterday he started herding my geese, very naughty (we're working on it)! The geese were in the pasture and Rubin was 'herding' the geese back to the coop at a very fast rate when one of the geese hit a fence wire (not barbed) that was hanging low. My back was to the goose but my husband went running to him/her and said that he could not believe that he/she did not break their neck. The goose seemed fine last night, but today his/her neck is HUGE. I felt it and it feels like it is full of air. He/she is walking slow, hanging their head and does not run to me like he/she usually does. I am not really sure what to do. We do not have a vet that will see poultry and I am new to geese, please help! I really care for this goose and I want him/her to survive this suspected neck injury! Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
