Possible need to cull a scapled pullet?

Is she a crested breed of chicken? I’ve heard they can suffer neurological damage if they have a scalp injury from pecking etc.
She's a black australorp so no she should be single combed.
I am sorry to hear she isn't doing better this evening.🙁 Is she even trying to eat or drink?
If I put it in her mouth she'll swallow (most of the time) but otherwise she's not seeking it out herself no.
So sorry she's not doing well. Brain injury and swelling/inflammation are possible, it's really hard to know that. You are doing everything you can. A vet might prescribe a anti inflammatory (often meloxicam) and antibiotic if they suspected brain injury, but hard to know. And without a good diagnosis, using something incorrect, if it is a brain injury, could make things worse. Sometimes when we don't know the exact nature of what happened to cause the injury, it's guessing. :hugs
You have no reason to apologise, thank you for all your help.

Keep trying to get her to eat. Add some sugar or apple juice to her water and dip her beak. She could be still in shock or have a brain injury that you won't be able to help but you're doing the best you can and that's all that matters. She knows that and hopefully you do too. I completely understand that a vet is likely out of the question and sometimes miracles happen. I've been on the brink of putting a few chickens down here recently and they've both rebounded miraculously. You just never know.:hugs

So, we gave the sugar water like you suggested and she seemed to perk up quite quickly so we got hopeful and kept feeding her little bits at a time throughout the day based on how full her crop was.
We also had to take off the ointment clean the wound down and reapply because she decided to stick her head wound directly in the food. I did notice something that I thought was odd, the manna pro ointment seems to have restarted the bleed from her head but from what I gather this might be a part of the bird scabbing process.
During the night however she took a turn for the worse, she's become even more lethargic than before and spit up about a teaspoon worth of what I assume to be the feed we gave her and the sugar water (but the smell is rancid) and is now making these strange low gurgling/raspy chirp noises and not really moving beyond shaking her head occasionally and what looks like gagging but can't be because birds don't have a gag reflex. I'm thinking this might be the end for her at this point because she looks just so in pain. Honestly not sure where to go from here...

I'm sorry to hear that. Poor thing. It sounds like you're doing everything you can for her. You may have to make a decision if you see that she's suffering but only you can make that decision and you'll know when it's the right time. ❤️‍🩹

Thank you everyone for your help and advice I am beyond grateful.

However, despite our best efforts, as of 19:22 this evening Moltres has Unfortunately passed. Thankfully she died peacefully sleeping, curled up on a comfy blanket and pillows that we were using to support her.

I’m very sorry you lost your sweet girl ☹️

I just now read this thread for the first time. I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet baby. Losses are never easy and this one was traumatic. I'm amazed at how vicious chickens can be toward each other and I'm sorry it happened. Black Australorps are some of the sweetest birds. Hugs to you. :hugs
