I just have to ask...why would you breed a cockapoo to a yorkie?
Ahhh... I knew this would come up.

There were no cockers, poodles, or cockapoos for stud in our area and We absolutely LOVE our friends yorkie. HE has the most wonderful personality cute face and hes healthy. We cant afford to pay 500 dollars to get her shipped away and we don't want her to go that far away so we used him. We absolutely love both dogs for a gazillion reasons and we want a mix of them. I KNOW mixes can be unpredictable. We already have people who want pups and they wont be sent to shelters.
Please do not question anymore or tell me that im irresponsible. We did it for the personality and size and conpanionship.

I understand what you mean. I did read up before breeding I just never thought to read on that I guess. I Know that my girl outgrew the rest of her family tree (she is a cockapoo) and that the dad is a pure bred akc yorkie so too big is definately not a Problem. Thanks you guys she is now producing milk and stomach is growing more. I will try to get her into the vet soon :)

but she is a cockapoo. mini-poodle? standard poodle? how big were her parents? And her grandparents? And their parents? aunts, uncles, cousins twice removed? etc etc That is the danger of dog breeding - you have to know every possible detail about every dog as far back as possible.

How about dad? I've actually seen some dang over-sized yorkies. Shoot, I know a min. pin. that weighs 25 lbs. All are AKC registered. Of course, all were bred by people who wanted "just one litter" and didn't know how to go about it responsibly.

Glad you're taking her to the vet. Even though it's unlikely to get an exact count, it can really give you some piece of mind. If there were several pups on the x-ray and she stops after 2, then you know that you need to get her labor going again.

dads family was all about ... 2-8 lbs. my girls dad was 12 lbs and her mom was 18 lbs She was the biggest of all siblings (7girls) the rest were supposed to be around 15lbs but she was much bigger.

but that is my point. what about the REST of the family. A dog's genes are more than mom and dad. It's unlikely that she is going to have any problems but it's still good to know.

I'll use my dog's breeder as an example. He can tell the size/weight of all the dogs in the pedigree or at least has access to the info. He can tell you how big of a litter they have on average? easy labor or hard labor? how do they react when they start to go into labor? are they good mothers or do you need to keep a close eye on them for the first few days? Are they easy keepers or hard keepers? Do pups from both sire and dams side tend to gain weight quickly or slowly? etc etc All of these things have genetic basis and are important to know before you breed.

Why do you keep asking peeps to stop saying you are irresponsible , not one person said that, you are the only one saying it. Being that the only thing I find is that you planned to breed her, made arrangements, but didn't take her to the vets. That is irresponsible. We here on a forum can not say whether or not your little dog is pregnant or not, only a vet or when she spits out the pups. TAKE IT TO THE VET

I didnt say somebody said that i just dont want anybody too because when i read online thats all i see. Im sorry that i emphasised it so much. I was feeling defensive but i know that was nobodys intention. I was having bad day. Im very sorry for my immature response
