Possible solution to sparrows eating my feed.

Even though I have my feed inside the coop, I have a great deal of sparrows getting in the coop (my hens free-range my fenced in backyard all day so the coop door is open) and eating the feed. I understand that they bring disease too.
Well I have recently found this site, and am wondering if anyone else has tried this. I'm hoping it WON'T scare the chickens.

I would think it depends on the kind of sparrow. I have some chipping sparrows, which I dont mind. I also had some house sparrows, which are absolutely horrid creatures. I bought a sparrow trap and took care of the house sparrows. They work.

If you have house sparrows, a pellet gun willl do the trick. I hate those things.
