Hello!! I am new to chickens and trying to learn quickly. I have some 8 week old chicks that I took outside for a little while in a pen on Sunday and a couple of hours on Tuesday also. As they were outside on Tuesday one stepped on the other and she began to vomit! It freaked me out of course. So I googled it and upon further examination of her crop it was large and squishy. The vomit hardly had any odor and she had been acting normal. So i separated her and gave her only baking soda in the water for the night. In the morning her crop was a little smaller. I gave her some plain yogurt and she ate some. Later in the day her crop was better and not full at all so I gave her some chick feed mashed up with hot water and plain yogurt. She ate it fine. I then took the remainder out over night. Her droppings have been normal this whole time. Then this morning after being without food all night long her crop was still kinda full and squishy. Not sure how to proceed and what to do next. She wants out of that cage so bad and it's making sad because I don't know what else to do. :/

Chickens can regurgitate, especially if they're being stepped on. :)

If she's acting normal, eating, and drinking, I would let her join the others. Sour crop has an odor to it, since it's a yeast-y bacterial infection. If she smells like a chicken and continues to eat and drink, I bet she'll be fine. I'm not sure 8 weeks is enough time for something like sour crop to develop (I could be wrong, though).

PS - Welcome to BYC!

Thanks! I have not surprisingly become rather attached to my Lil flock of 10. :) Don't want anyone not feeling well.

Of course. :)

Just watch for any sudden changes in behavior... Lethargy, hunching, weird poops, going off food and water...

If they're running around peeping and pooping, they're doing okay.
