Possible splayed leg chick

She is a handful. I'm current typing Linux commands with one hand while my new miniature supervisor tells me all about everything from under my other hand while eating mush and slinging it everywhere. makes getting anything done very slow. Especially when I'm trying to keep her out of the food as she wants to stand in it, as chickens do.

This is the first time she has actually gone to food on her own. Usually we have to present food to her. Little Derpy send to be unable to pick up dry crumble because she doesn't open her beak far enough.

I'm pretty excited with the progress.

She seems to keep messing with something in her wing pits. I'm not finding anything there.

That's how I lost my last parrot. Something in his wing pit and when I found him the next morning he had lost too much blood and didn't make it.

Well, putting her in with a buddy isn't gonna work for now. Everyone wants to peck her in the eyeball when she lays down for sleep. Her buddies have been banished back to their box. Found a small stuffed animal (3" tall board collie dog) to snuggle with. She is generally quiet right now. Hope that means good things.

Well, I was banned from using the stuff animals by the wife so I found the closest thing I could to a feather duster.

Major breakthrough.

Derpy's balance still sucks. We have a little wifi camera the wife uses when she house sits for friends so we put that on Derpy's box. While winding down last night we watched the camera to see what was going on. She still stumbles around but we did witness her go to the mush and eat and go to the water and drink on her own!!!

But also possible step backwards. Found her basically on her back this morning. The lamp had dried out her mush and little water bowl. Got a little water in her but she seems to be a little weak this morning. She isn't really going for the mush this morning yet.

Yea!!! One hurdle cleared! Are you still giving Vit B complex or a little Nutri Drench?
None of those yet. Was not able to make it into town before anywhere with the poultry cell stuff closed. Don't have a b complex around.

I will have to run to town this morning for some.

Does look like the closest ranch supply store has nutri-drench.

Still stumbling/crashing around but is eating on her own. Not sure if getting to the food and water is by accident or not!

Grabbed some poultry cell. Their website says ~7.7ml per L of water.

Im thinking I'll add maybe 0.5mL to the 800mL of vitamin water we have built up for her. Don't want to over do it since she is so small.

She also needs a bath. Bad. She won't like that!

Got her a little stuffed fizzy chicken buddy to snuggle to. She seems to like it.

She got some food, snuggled her chicken and toppled over then crashed out. She sure was chowing down on food when I got home from getting Poultry Cell.

Little Derpy's first completely (mostly) unassisted day!

Fell in the water a few times. Fell in her food a few times, found food by herself, found food by herself, screamed a little, got a bath (due to being covered in food after falling in it), and is currently wet on one side due to falling in water but leaning up on her emotional support chicken. She looks pretty tired.

We added the Poultry Cell to the water and have been using that for her water and the mush. We tried to just do a little as to not OD her. I think we did ~0.625ml in 800ml of water. She is probably getting a bit extra since it's the same water used to make her mush.
