A silkie pullet I have has developed a bump above her eye next to her comb. I was watching it for the last couple days, today it seemed much bigger but that could be because her topnot was wet from rain. I was able to see it quite well today, and it had a dark spot (she has pink skin on her face, not black). Since it resembled some of the bumblefoot things I've read, I knew I should see if stuff comes out. I scraped the spot down just a little and gently squeeze and the thick puss stuff started coming out. I spent a good half hour kneeding and squeezing. I got a final big bit that came out with an audible little pop and nothing else after that. I've cleaned it with Vetericyn and put some non painkiller antibiotic ointment on it.

Have I done right thing to correct this? She couldn't see well before and kept running into stuff and getting little wounds on her face so I can see how she could have infected. It's been quite damp lately. I gave her a feathercut so she can see now.

Sounds good. You did the right thing. Hopefully the infection stayed contained to the pus pocket. If so she should heal in no time with no lasting problems. Good work.
