Possible URI starting in flock?

Coughing is usually a sign of a disease, BUT, it can also be caused by the environment. Make sure your coop is always cleaned, as the build-up of ammonia can cause coughing and Aspergillosis. Coughing can also be caused by dust, wether it’s from bedding or the environment. Do they cough randomly? Or at a certain point? (Like during feeding time or coop cleaning).

Coughing can be a sign of a respiratory infection such as Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG), Infectious Coryza, Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV), Aspergillosis, Infectious Laryngotracheitis Virus (ILT) or (since it’s going around) Avian Influenza (AI). Personally, I suggest getting testing done, so you can treat accordingly, you can read more about these diseases below in the links that I’ll provide for you. The links to these articles will also have labs that you can contact for testing as well as treatment options.

I hope this helps :)
Thank you for the resources, I'll check them out.

Coughing was fairly sudden onset, first with one and then spreading to several over 2 days. Coughing started subsiding with antibiotics, no more coughing now (5 days into tx). I clean the coop every day and it is in my barn with excellent ventilation, so there is definitely no amonia build up.

My vet did not mention testing for anything and I assume 1) it's likely too late at this point and 2) the antibiotics are helping whatever it was given that symptoms are gone.

Since we can't eat their eggs for now, I've been scrambling them and feeding them back. Not sure if it's the eggs, antibiotics, or just spring, but their egg production has been phenomenal the past 3 days. 33 eggs from 14 hens! I cry inside every time I have to scramble and feed them back (shells and all) but they love the treat. Looking forward to getting back to normal soon.

Did you read my previous reply that there is no egg withdrawal time with Tylan or Tylosin? Read down toward the bottom of this article:

I did, and I saw that. I've been told so much conflicting info and my vet consulted with another vet on it and still recommended the withdrawal so I'm erring on the side of caution. I know it may not be necessary but multiple vets have advised varying withdrawal times.
